Yesterday our family and friends from the community visited our Step UP camp for Open Day! They learned about CISV, the Step Up program and met the delegations from 9 countries!
During Open Day, the camp is open to the public for one day. It is a fun opportunity to show to the local chapter how the camp is going, to practice national dance, dress up in the traditional costumes and of course try sweets from all over the globe!
The Step Up delegations are comprised of four youth ages 14-15 years, 2 girls and 2 boys, who are accompanied by an adult leader.
CISV’s Step Up program is 23 days and encourages young people to take a leading role in planning and organizing activities. The participants and their adult leaders use CISV’s peace education to guide the theme of the camp around which they plan activities, such as identity, democracy, or environmental protection.
